Theme Of The Game
Taking you back to medieval times, Hero’s Quest slot from Bally Wolf is a 5-reel setup with a choice between 20 and/or 40 paying lines.
This brightly-coloured game is not exactly top-notch when it comes to graphics which are – in all honesty – a no match to cinematic 3D releases we encounter on daily basis, but it would be unfair to label it uneventful or unexciting.
So, do join our main character – a young adventure knight on his quest to become a hero, fighting beasts and monsters to claim a big jackpot. There are two main features the Hero’s Quest slot game benefits from and they both revolve around free spins.
The medieval slot title of Hero’s Quest has been developed and produced by Bally Wulff Games & Entertainment GmbH, a software developing company based in Berlin, Germany. With a long-standing history of over 65 years, Bally Wulff is a leading German electronics company, whose products sales are centred around the German market.
Bally Wulff still have business section dealing with the export business, which currently has it focus set on Spain and Italy, which apparently is enough of a reason for the company to only offer site in those three languages. Bally Wulff is a member of the Schmidt Group, which operates a network of 12 branch offices throughout Germany.
How to Play it
We did not expect to be welcomed with a cartoon feel in this medieval game, but that is exactly what met us upon the launching of the screen.
Five reels of this knightly action are placed upon a nature’s background with bright skies and what appears to be a waterfall filling the screen behind the reels. Joining you on the grid are classic playing cards as the low-value symbols in the game, whereas a shield, sword, horse and a hog are the medium-paying symbols.
What you will hope for in the game are either the tiger or the hero himself. The two top icons are joined by the Wild Logo and some sort of a glowing Scatter, which is responsible for all the real action in the game.
Before you spin the reels, make sure to select the number of paylines you wish to be active during the spins. You can either set the game to 20 or full 40, which gets you the most out of the game of course. The wager starts at $0.30 as the lowest bet and goes up to $160 which is the most you can invest here.
The game pays for combinations of at least three matching symbols starting from left to right, whereas the game offers a great chance to boost your wins with a Gamble option available every time you hit a win.
If you choose Gamble instead of Collect, the game will take you to an in-game setup where you will be guessing between the colour of a hidden card, with prospects of doubling your wins. There is a $150 maximum you can hope to land during this feature however.
Hero’s Quest benefits from the two special features, one of which is available during the base game and starts when you manage to notch a fully stacked first reel.
Once you do this, the game will reward you with 3 Magic Spins, during which the first reel gets sticky throughout the feature. What is more, any matching symbols to the one filling the first reel will be locked as well, which ultimately gives great value to your spins.
Additionally, the Hero’s Quest slot game benefits from a Free Spins feature, which is available to all of you spinners who manage to nail three glowing Scatters anywhere in sight on a single spin. This gives you a batch of 10 free spins to benefit from with Wilds appearing stacked, which is a great way to boost your winning potential.
Great thing about the Free Spins feature is that it can be retriggered anytime, which ultimately means that you can ideally land 20 spins on a roll.
The game of Hero’s Quest is a rather affordable one, which was explained above. It can go up to $150 of a wagering stake, but we are sure that every type of a spinner will find his place in this game.
Five Heroes in a line are enough to give you 600 credits, which can get doubled through the Gamble feature. With Free Spins however and Magic Spins what’s more, players can hope to earn much more if they get lucky enough to land a full screen of matching symbols.
Hero’s Quest is a simple and a rather straightforward game. We usually like these two things as sometime less is more, but Bally Wulff’s latest game simply did not click with us.
We have been rather disappointed by the visual appeal in the first place, rest of it just went crashing down with it. In all honesty, we are talking about a genuinely playable slot game, but sometimes we just want more, don’t we?
Don’t get your hopes to high as Hero’s Quest will not cost you much, but it won’t offer much in return as well. Generic spins yield generic wins and we are way past the classic brick and mortar slots to be fully appreciative of this game we have in front of us.
