Theme of the Game

With the summer Olympics as the biggest sports event in the world over, we turn our attention to Rio once again with the brand new Dancing in Rio slot game.

This 5-reel and 40-paylines game is a dazzling tribute to world famous carnival, filled with free spins, plenty of rewarding features and one of a kind progressive jackpot.

WMS Gaming have created a video slot which captures the essence of the famous street carnival with blooming colours and engaging soundtrack that will immediately take you to Rio de Janeiro. It is an extravagant title and elegant at the same time. All in all a game we should all try out this summer, that’s for sure.

Developer

Dancing in Rio was developed by WMS Gaming. A subsidiary of WMS Industries, a company whose roots date back to 1943 and the founding of Williams Manufacturing Company, WMS was producing popular pinball machines in the last decades of the 20th century.

With 60 years of experience, WMS Gaming has become a leading innovator of electronic game entertainment. Focused on Player Driven Innovation, WMS combine advanced, ground-breaking technologies with engaging content and product executions to deliver products that will transform the player entertainment experience.

How to Play it

The increasingly popular 5×4 engine is filled with beautifully dressed and visually appealing dancers – both male and female – which are one of carnival’s biggest attractions to be honest. Female dancers are fully stacked symbols which help you create winning combinations and increase your winning potential.

The Dancing in Rio logo is the game’s Wild, which substitutes for all symbols other than Green Trigger, Red Trigger and Carnival Masks Scatters which come in different versions as Mask (+2), Mask (+3), Mask (+10) and Mask (+20). Logo only appears on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5, while the Red Trigger is only available at the final reel.

Each reel contains a number of adjacent positions that, before the spinning starts, are randomly filled with Green Trigger. At the same time, reel 5 is randomly filled with Red Trigger whose purpose will be explained further below.

Lines pay from the leftmost to right and the aim is to notch at least 3 matching symbols in order to win.

Special Features

Scattered Masks will initiate first of the two bonus modes available in this game.

Three or more Masks will trigger a Free Spins bonus and a special bonus whose value depends on the number of Scatters. There are up to 150 free spins in total to be won and up to 5x multiplier to your total bet in this feature which will be visually different to the regular reel grid.

Jackpots are another thing to look for in this game.  It is initiated via the Green and Red Trigger which in different combinations award you with jackpots of different value. In order to win the bonus you need to get full reels with green and red trigger backgrounds.

Mini Jackpot, Minor Jackpot, Major Jackpot, Burst Bonus Jackpot and Pulse Bonus Jackpot are at your disposal if you bet over $2.00 during a sin which is the main prerequisite for the bonus to be active. All in all, you can hope to land 6 regular jackpots and one progressive.

Maximum Payout

With $50 as a maximum bet for this 5×4 game in a 40-payline system, Dancing in Rio is quite an affordable game for a wide range of players. Stacked female dancer is the base game’s main attraction, but it does not offer more than $187.50.

On the other hand, Jackpots are all that makes this game so intriguing as there is a chance to win up to $32,500 in a Progressive Jackpot win, which is basically a set of five fully stacked reels with green trigger in the background.

Summary

Rio is a safe bet at this point as this Brazilian city has been at the centre of attention throughout the summer. The latest WMS game has used all the best from Rio in order to make an exciting game for their players.

The creators attempted to present a game that would have good theme, good base gameplay and good bonus features at the same time, but it’s been a while that we have last seen such a combination yield desired results.

Dancing in Rio is a highly volatile game with potentially high rewards and some dry spell which could be a huge blow to your confidence.
